What is a coffee capsule?
It is an innovative aluminum capsule containing coffee and Nespresso holds a proprietary patent for it. One capsule can be used to extract one cup of coffee.
Why are the capsules made of aluminum?
Capsules made of aluminum prevent the coffee beans from oxidizing and they can protect the sensitive and easy-to-degrade aromas up to the moment of extraction.

Environmental consideration and recycling
In Japan, capsules have not been recycled due to matters related to laws and regulations, but Nespresso began recycling used capsules in Switzerland in 1991.
