How to make your coffee hot and keep it that way

Hot cup of Coffee

As a coffee lover, temperature can be just as important as taste when it comes to enjoying your favourite brew or blend.

Whether you’re busy around the house, on the morning school drop, or commuting to work each day, nobody wants a lukewarm coffee. So how do you make your coffee hot and keep it hot long enough to enjoy it? Keeping your drink at optimal drinking temperature is the key to enjoying every sip. That’s why we’ve put together our tips on the optimal coffee temperature, the best coffee machines for making hot coffee, and how to keep it hot.

Optimal coffee temperatures

Water temperature for coffee

The optimal temperature of water when brewing a coffee is between 91 degrees and 96 degrees. Reaching 100 degrees and boiling the water can burn the coffee, impacting on the end result and ultimately, the taste.

Heating milk

A perfect serving temperature for milk is 60 degrees. This temperature allows the sugars in the milk to break down and deliver just the right blend of texture and sweetness.

If you make it too hot, you can burn the milk and the coffee. Making it too hot and going above the recommended temperature of 60 degrees can change the proteins in the milk and affect the taste.

How coffee machines create coffee at the perfect temperature

The technology used by Nespresso’s coffee machines allows them to create a blend of coffee at the perfect temperature. You can select the blend and cup of your choice, let the machine get to work and within minutes your coffee is ready to enjoy.

Making hot coffee

One of the best ways to keep your coffee warm for longer is to start with a warm cup. Before you add the coffee to your cup, warm it up.

Put your coffee cup on top of your coffee machine while you’re preparing and making your coffee. Hot water from the kettle can also pre-heat your cup and keep it warmer for longer. Just remember to tip the water out before adding your coffee.

You can also do the same when using a travel mug – warm the cup with hot water from the kettle first. It will help your cup keep your coffee warmer for longer.

Nespresso has a range of stylish cups and mugs complimenting their sleek coffee machines. Whether you’re a Lungo, Espresso or Cappuccino drinker, Nespresso has a cup to suit. Not only will they keep your coffee warm, they’ll also look incredible on display next to your Nespresso coffee machine.
