Nespresso story
begins in 1975
Nespresso started from a simple but revolutionary idea: to create the perfect cup of coffee just like a skilled barista, all the while offering the same exceptional quality and memorable experience.
Nespresso invented the coffee capsule in 1986.
Eric Favre, a Nestle employee, was fascinated by the queue forming at a cafe in Rome. Wanting to understand the reason, Favre observed that the coffee shop operators pressed the plunger several times before releasing the coffee, while in the other coffee shops, the plunger was pressed only once. This coffee was more aromatic, it had a memorable taste. Inspired by this method, Favre came up with an idea: to allow anyone to create the perfect cup of espresso coffee - just like a coffee shop barista.
Since its inception in 1986,Nespresso has redefined and revolutionized the way millions of people enjoy espresso and shaped global coffee culture.

Nespresso capsules contain only freshly ground coffee, except for the flavored assortments, which contain freshly ground coffee and natural flavors.
The most varied range of assortments
Over 30 varieties in the Original range, over 35 varieties in the Vertuo range and over 18 varieties in the Professional range, as well as Limited Editions highlighting rare varieties from around the world.
Intensity between 2 and 13
Our coffee assortments satisfy every preference in terms of intensity, ranging from the most delicate and velvety to the deepest and densest.
Origin coffee
The Master Origin range contains single origin coffee varieties and specific coffee processing methods.
Recyclable capsules
Our coffee capsules are made with over 80% recycled aluminum and are recyclable.
Recycling coffee capsules
The collected used capsules are brought to INDECO, our local recycling center in Ilfov County. Here, we separate the coffee grounds from the capsule: the coffee grounds are turned into fertilizer or renewable energy. And aluminum turns into everyday objects.
