NESPRESSO
A ZERO WASTE JOURNEY
As part of its global ambition, Nespresso envisions a world where no valuable resources are wasted, but instead given a second life. Taking this important step towards reducing its environmental footprint in Greece, Nespresso presents its new project "A Zero Waste journey" to promote a stronger circular economy where waste has the chance at gaining a new life.
A STEP TO A ZERO WASTE WORLD
In collaboration with Polygreen, Nespresso reinforces a stronger waste management approach within its boutiques in Kolonaki and Glyfada. Paper and cardboard, plastic, aluminum, glass, food residues, as well as mixed/non-recyclable materials from the two Boutiques will be collected and directed towards energy recovery.

A JOURNEY TO ZERO WASTE
With this initiative, Nespresso embarks on a journey towards a future where our goal is to harness a second life of each waste generated by our boutiques. These small steps of sorting, collection and recycling can inspire all of us to adopt recycling and circular economy practices in our daily lives. Follow us on our journey to a Zero Waste world!
AN EXCITING JOURNEY
LET'S GO ZERO TOGETHER
With this initiative, Nespresso embarks on a journey towards a future where our goal is to harness a second life of each waste generated by our boutiques. These small steps of sorting, collection and recycling can inspire all of us to adopt recycling and circular economy practices in our daily lives. Follow us on our journey to a Zero Waste world!
STEP 1
COLLECTION
The materials collected include paper and cardboard, plastic, aluminum, glass, food residues processed in a dryer, as well as mixed and/or non-recyclable materials. The waste materials are collected from throughout our boutique operations, from the main shop floor, utility rooms and offices within our building. The program includes the installation of bins in indoor spaces for the collection of our waste. along with a complete record of the quantities collected.

STEP 2
MANAGEMENT
For the management of organic waste, a small-capacity de-humidifier is used. Drying technology represents the most modern method of organic waste management. It involves heating the bio-waste and removing its moisture. The material is transferred to a designated recycling area until it is collected and transported to Megaeco's licensed and Eurocert (Platinum category) certified facilities in Megara, Attica. Through these processes, the bio-waste is transformed into compost. Non-recyclable materials collected from store areas are directed towards energy recovery.

STEP 3
COLLECTION
The collection of the mentioned waste is coordinated by Polygreen on a weekly basis. Upon waste collection, materials are weighed by type, automatically updating the Just Go Zero application. Subsequently, the materials are directed by type to Polygreen's licensed facilities for management (sorting and recycling).
