Nespresso Coffee Intensity

How Nespresso measures intensity:

  • Body

    Texture matters. A coffee with body is thick and dense, and a light-bodied coffee feels more watery and fluid.

  • Bitterness

    An intense coffee is just the right kind of bitter. Think of dark chocolate, baking cocoa, chicory.

  • Roastiness

    No matter the roast level, some coffees just have that roasty flavour.

Nespresso believes a coffee's intensity is measured by a combination of roastiness, body and bitterness, rather than by caffeine content.

Depending on which aromatic note is dominant, a coffee will have a different character, regardless of intensity.

Wie kann ich meine Nespresso Kaffeekapseln umweltfreundlich entsorgen?

Aluminium ist dafür bekannt, dass es sich im Gegensatz zu anderen Verpackungsmaterialien besonders einfach recyceln lässt. In Deutschland können gebrauchte Kaffeekapseln über die Gelbe Tonne, den Gelben Sack, Wertstofftonnen sowie bei Wertstoffsammelstellen ganz bequem samt Inhalt entsorgt werden. Auch die Entsorgung bei der Sammelstelle in einer Nespresso Boutique in Ihrer Nähe ist selbstverständlich problemlos und kostenfrei möglich. Dort werden die Kapseln dann dem dualen System zugeführt, an welchem Nespresso bereits seit dem Jahre 1993 teilnimmt. Der in den gebrauchten Kapseln verbleibende Kaffeesatz muss dabei übrigens nicht entfernt werden, da er beim Recyclingverfahren nicht störend ist. Ganz im Gegenteil: der zurückbleibende Kaffeesatz liefert sogar Energie für die Pyrolyse (thermo-chemische Spaltung organischer Verbindungen unter hohen Temperaturen) und hat damit einen durchaus positiven Einfluss auf den Recycling-Vorgang. Wussten Sie, dass bereits ein großer Teil des Aluminiumbedarfs in Deutschland durch Sekundäraluminium bedient wird? Da bei der Wiederverwertung deutlich weniger Energie benötigt wird als bei der Neugewinnung, ist diese umweltfreundliche Neugewinnung im Vergleich auch noch sehr sinnvoll. Des Weiteren befinden sich mehr als 75 % des hergestellten Aluminiums noch im Umlauf – denn es kann nahezu unendlich oft recycelt werden.

Wie funktionieren Kaffeekapseln und
was zeichnet sie aus?

Kapseln für Kaffee sollen generell zwei Bedingungen erfüllen: sie müssen universell einsetzbar sein, also für all unsere verschiedenen Kaffee-Varietäten – egal ob aus Arabica oder Robusta Bohnen, Espresso oder Lungo – als eine Verpackung dienen, die keinen Fremdgeschmack verursacht. Des Weiteren ist es wichtig, dass das gemahlene Kaffeepulver darin vollständig vor äußeren Einflüssen geschützt ist. Dazu gehören beispielsweise Feuchtigkeit, Austrocknung und der Aromaverlust im Allgemeinen. Die Kapsel um den Kaffee dient also als eine Art luftdichtes Schutzschild, der sämtlichem Qualitätsverlust des Kaffeepulvers entgegenwirkt – und es so praktisch unbegrenzt lagerbar macht.
