RECYCLE WITH YOUR BUSINESS

RECYCLE WITH YOUR BUSINESS

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We understand and respect the responsibilities we have as a company to create a sustainable coffee economy, and recycling our capsules plays an important role in this process.

Nespresso Professional Recycling

Recycling your used Nespresso capsules is easy!

Use our recycling bags and return them to one of the various recycling points or to a Nespresso Boutique.

If your monthly consumption exceeds 1200 capsules, please contact us and ask for your Recycling Container.

Every Capsule Has Future Potential

Nespresso uses aluminum for its capsules as it is the best material available today to protect the freshness, taste and quality of the Nespresso Coffees. Aluminum is also infinitely recyclable. This means that there is potential for a second life within every capsule. So when you are finished enjoying your Nespresso Coffee, please return your Nespresso aluminum capsules to us. We will see to it that it goes on to achieve its potential through recycling.

The Separation Process

We have partnered with a local recycling centre to create a tailored recycling system to separate the aluminum and coffee in the used Nespresso capsules. Each material then goes on to live its second life.

Second Life

From coffee to compost

When separated from aluminum, the coffee grounds can be reused In Portugal, we can find it in fertilizer compounds used to fertilize farming fields, such as those in Santa Margarida do Sado, where we produce the rice we donate to Banco Alimentar, through the Reciclar é Alimentar project.

From aluminium to anything

Aluminum is not only 100% recyclable, it is infinitely recyclable. Each used capsule can be turned into everyday objects – another capsule, bicycles, Swiss army knives, peelers, stepladders, window frames or watch cases.

Reciclar é alimentar

The Reciclar é Alimentar Project was born in Portugal in 2010 as a way to reuse coffee grounds and has already been replicated in several european countries.

Since 2010, coffee grounds have gained a new lease of life in Portugal. From the used coffee grounds, is produced rice in Alcácer do Sal, which is then donated by Nespresso to Banco Alimentar.

TODAY AND IN THE FUTURE

Since our journey in the coffee world began, more than 25 years ago, we have been addressing sustainability with the same passion and expertise. Today, the Nespresso capsule recycling program covers 59 countries. And you, will you take part in this program?
