FOREST BLACK is a blend of coffees all grown under the leafy canopy of trees. The shade shelters the coffee trees from direct sun and creates a cooler environment in which the fruit can mature more slowly. That slower ripening of the coffee cherry protects the aromas that later develop during roasting and brewing.

These shade-grown coffees—hailing from origins respected for this approach—often deliver on flavours that’ll also remind you of the forest. A complex split-roast blend of Arabicas from Colombia, Peru, Guatemala and India bring exotic woody notes, and aromas of peppery spices that dance through these coffees once roasted and brewed.

STEPPING UP

Nespresso is proud to be partnering with Conservation International to gift back to the forest this Festive season. Stepping beyond coffee farming to support communities that call the forest home, Nespresso is contributing to the protection of 10 million trees in the Amazon Forest in La Pedrera, Colombia - where Conservation International and the Madroño community work on preserving the area’s forests.

TO NEW HORIZONS

Partners like PUR Projet and Technoserve have helped Nespresso and local coffee farming communities to understand the gifts of the forest, through agroforestry. Agroforestry is an agricultural practice in which trees are grown around or among crops, for soil protection, water replenishment, windbreak, temperature regulation, and additional income - so that not only your coffee, but also the surrounding ecosystems can benefit from the gifts of the forest.

For nearly 20 years, the Rainforest Alliance has worked with Nespresso to help secure the stable, long-term supply of sustainably-sourced high-quality coffee, whilst protecting the natural environment and supporting the wellbeing of farmers and communities; through training on farm management for increased productivity and improved harvest quality; and by helping build resilience to climate change through climate-smart agricultural practices.

Using one capsule of Limited Edicion Forest Black Coffee - all you need extra is Maple Syrup, Cream and Chaga Mushroom Powder. Decorate with a shaved button and sprinkle with some fresh dill to finish.

Ingredients

  • Forest Black (40ml)
  • 5ml Maple Syrup
  • 250ml Cream
  • 5g Chaga Mushroom Powder
  • 50ml Boiling water
  • 1g Dill
  • 1x Button Mushroom

Materials

  • Nespresso View Lungo Glass
  • Whipped Cream Syphon

How to make this recipe?

  • Step 1

    Into a whipped cream siphon (250ML Siphon) , add 5g of Chaga mushroom* powder & 50ml of boiling water. Mix it together and let it infuse for 10min.
  • Step 2

    Then add 250ml of cream and one capsule* of whipper charger. Shake vigorously.
  • Step 3

    In the bottom of a View Lungo cup, add 5ml of maple syrup.
  • Step 4

    Then extract a 40ml of Forest Black Coffee.
  • Step 5

    Add the whipped cream on the top of the coffee.
  • Step 6

    To finish, decorate with a shaved button or chestnut mushroom and sprinkle with some fresh dill.

ORIGIN
Taste the forest in a celebration of shade-grown coffees from Colombia and beyond. Exotic wood and spice notes dance through this enchanting espresso.
ROASTING
This blend is roasted using the split-roast technique (50/50). The first split is slight lighter and longer than the second, which balances it out with a darker roast. The result is a balanced, medium dark blend.
AROMATIC PROFILE
Woody, peppery spice, and sweet cereal notes abound; a delicate acidity shimmering through as subtly as sunlight filtering through canopy leaves.
