The challenges of recent times have reminded us all of the important things in life: connection with others and great tasting coffee.

So, in an effort to bring our community of coffee lovers together and to create a shared experience centred around amazing coffee, we've created four virtual coffee masterclasses. Led by Nespresso Coffee Ambassador, Mitch Monaghan, these classes entertain, educate, expand your coffee creativity and indulge your senses - all from the comfort of home.

We're covering coffee tasting, food and coffee pairings, latte art, and some delicious recipes. Want to know more? Read on.

How do our Coffee Masterclasses work?

Each of our dedicated masterclasses will focus on a different coffee-inspired topic. With our Nespresso ambassador Mitch guiding you every step of the way you'll have all of the tips and expert advice you'll need to explore the wonderful world of Nespresso coffee and develop your coffee knowledge. The best thing is, every class is available for free on our Facebook page

Whether you're new to the world of coffee creation and Nespresso or you're a coffee connoisseur, you're going to love this series of masterclasses designed to inspire you and develop your barista skills.

Episode 1: Coffee Tasting

Our first masterclass takes a dive into the world of coffee tasting.

Discover:

  • The different profiles of coffee
  • The different origins in espresso and milk and understanding their variances.
  • How flavours interact with each other through our coffee.

Follow along as we bring you on an immersive coffee tasting journey, we'll be using our Original Line Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio & Volluto blends throughout. For our Vertuo fans, you can follow along using our Altissio and Voltesso blends. Remember to have your milk of choice at the ready.

Episode 2: How to make the perfect (N)espresso Martini

Espresso martini masterclass

Our second coffee masterclass celebrates a timeless classic: the (N)Espresso Martini. This recipe is an all-time favourite at the end of a meal or at a cocktail party – but for now, they are equally as delicious when enjoyed at home. As there is alcohol included in the recipe, this is for those over 18 only.

Mitch will walk you through not just one, but two Nespresso Martini recipes: 

The Classic and The Spiced. We know that a great espresso martini demands exceptional coffee so make sure you have your favourite Nespresso capsules.

The Classic:

  • 40ml Nespresso capsule – We recommend Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio or Vertuo Altissio
  • 60ml vodka
  • 15ml coffee liqueur
  • 5ml sugar syrup
  • 5 large ice cubes

The Spiced:

  • 40ml Nespresso capsule – We recommend Original Master Origin India or Vertuo Diavolitto
  • 60ml vodka
  • 15ml coffee liqueur
  • 5ml maple syrup
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Black pepper (cracked)
  • 5 large ice cubes

Episode 3: Create the ultimate breakfast moment with Nespresso Professional Chef Partner James Viles of Biota

Gourmet breakfast masterclass

In this Masterclass, Nespresso Chef Partner James Viles of Biota will take you through a gourmet breakfast demonstration.

Learn how to create the ultimate morning moment with two beautiful breakfast options - whipped creamed eggs with burnt butter & mud crab and a morning household grilled rueben sandwich.

Creamed eggs – crab, chives and burnt butter

  • Eggs x 6 whole
  • Whole crab x 1
  • Butter x 100g
  • Grapeseed oil x 20ml
  • Crème x 200ml
  • Chives x 1 bunch
  • Garlic x 4 cloves
  • Lemon x 2 each
  • Smoked chilli powder x 10g
  • Salt x 10g

Morning Rueben

  • Dill pickles x 2
  • Dark rye loaf x 1
  • Ranch dressing x 100g
  • Parsley x 50gr chopped
  • Grapeseed Oil x 50g
  • Blue cheese x 50g
  • Tabasco x 3drops
  • Worcestershire sauce x 5ml
  • Sauerkraut x 200g
  • Pastrami x 300g
  • Swiss cheese x 100g

Episode 4: Become A Latte Art Expert

Latte art masterclass

In Episode 4 of our Virtual Masterclass series, Nespresso Coffee Ambassador Mitch Monaghan will be joined by Meg Loudon, the winner of the 2016 International Grand Latte Art Championship

For our Creatista users, we'll be teaching you how pour beautiful latte art using your steam wand and milk jug.

For our Aeroccino fans, we'll be demonstrating how you can etch stunning designs on your coffee with the help of a bamboo barbeque skewer.

You'll learn all the tips & tricks for bringing an artistic flair to your cup of coffee at home. This masterclass will have you wowing your friends and family with your barista skills in no time.
