What is the caffeine content across Nespresso coffees range?

Caffeine content will mostly depend on the coffee quantity used to extract one cup, and the amount of Robusta in the blend since Robusta contains more caffeine than Arabica. Nespresso coffee contains average 13~200mg caffeine per cup, while the average amount of caffeine in decaffeinated coffees ranges between 0-12 mg per cup. According to EFSA, it was concluded that moderate caffeine intake of up to 400 mg per day and up to 200 mg per serving does not have any adverse effect on health for a healthy adult population. Nespresso coffee generally contains maximum 200mg caffeine per cup of coffee.

Does a strong coffee according to the Nespresso intensity scale contain more caffeine than the lower intensity rating coffees?

Not necessarily. The intensity of a coffee does not refer to the amount of caffeine it contains. A coffee’s intensity, as defined by Nespresso, is based on coffee's degree of roasting, its body and its bitterness. In some cases, this is achieved by adding Robusta to the blend which would also increase caffeine content. It can however also be achieved by a darker roast degree.

In our first in a series of collaborations, we join the signature brightness of Blue Bottle Coffee with Nespresso’s unique crema in this new creation.This blend harmonizes the vibrant fruitiness of a naturally processed coffee from the renowned Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia with the deep jammy notes of a natural coffee from Uganda.

Origin

This 100% arabica blend only uses delicate, sun-dried African beans from Ethiopia and Uganda

Roasting

A particularly light and short roast done in two splits, separated by origin. The beans from Uganda get a little more development time to create some intensity, while the Ethiopian beans are roasted even lighter to preserve the finer aromatics.
