Nespresso New Zealand is committed to ensuring we are part of a sustainable coffee economy.
The good news is our capsules are made of aluminium, which is infinitely recyclable.
To make it as easy as possible for all our customers to return their used capsules,
we have created a nationwide recycling program.

Nespresso Business Recycling

We offer a free of charge collection service to our customers for their used Nespresso aluminium capsules. Upon request, we will supply a Bulk Recycling Kit which includes 3 large recycling boxes, each holding up to 1,500 used Nespresso aluminium Professional and in-home capsules.

Our partner, Ecostock, has worked with Nespresso for more than 10 years. Recycled coffee capsules are sent to Ecostock in Wiri, Auckland, where the aluminium is separated from the coffee grounds.

Ecogas Reporoa Organics Processing Facility From aluminium to anything: the new beginnings starts in Wairau Valley, Auckland

Our partner, Phoenix Metalman Recycling, helps repurpose our capsule aluminium after being separated from the coffee grounds.

Phoenix Metalman Recycling are New Zealand's largest privately held metal recycler, who are Toitū Envirocare Net Carbon Zero certified.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have introduced Doorstep Collection to make recycling even more accessible for our customers. With this new service, you can simply fill the provided collection bag with your used Nespresso capsules and have collected from your door.

Nespresso New Zealand goals

Nespresso New Zealand is committed to ensuring we are part of a sustainable coffee economy. The good news is that our coffee capsules are made from aluminium, which is infinitely recyclable. As our capsules cannot be recycled through New Zealand's domestic waste systems, we have - since opening our first Boutique in 2011 - made recycling collection points available, and have worked with a recycling plant to put in place a dedicated system to recycle our used aluminium capsules.

Our commitment is to continually improve our recycling program to help ensure that as many used Nespresso capsules (both Professional and in-home) are recycled as possible.
