Our approach to sustainability is based on continuous improvement, creating shared value and innovation. That’s why Nespresso launched its 2020 sustainability ambition, The Positive Cup. It follows on from achieving the goals previously set through the Nespresso Ecolaboration program and looks at the next chapter in creating positive outcomes for the business, society and the environment. We are committed to establishing a sustainable coffee economy, through innovative programs and partnerships.
Developed to strengthen and build on the existing AAA capacities
The Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality™ Program has proven effective at farm level, giving greater resilience to farmers in our value chain. Developed to strengthen and build on the existing AAA capacities, we have engaged with partners to go even further, addressing farm risks to protect farmers and enhance their long-term welfare through the AAA Farmer Future Program.

In 2013 we established our Nespresso Sustainability Advisory Board, driving innovation and collaboration in coffee. This brings together environmental leaders such as Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade International, Fair Labor Association, IUCN, TechnoServe, academics and others to provide insight and independent opinion that will help move our sustainability efforts forward.
The Board features members’ with varied backgrounds and areas of expertise from the fields of government, business, academia and last, but not least, farmers. Farmers are a key business partner and we want to consult with them on all key aspects of the program to ensure positive impact at farm levels.
